History

In 1882, the Misko family business was established by Frank Misko. He was born in Bohemia, Czechoslovakia in 1853. After serving three years in the Austrian army Misko came to the United States and settled in Minnesota. In 1882, he moved to Ord, Nebraska, and built a small brick harness shop on the north side of the town square. Misko Harness and Leather Goods was born and saw an increase in business. A large two story building was built in 1895 where the business is operated today.

A son, William Misko was born in April 1881. William took over the business in 1912 and continued to operate Misko Harness and Leather Goods. Dean Misko was born to William Misko in April of 1923. Dean joined his father in the family business in 1945 after returning from three years in the army and became sole owner in 1953. The business expanded into sporting goods, western tack, western boots, and hunting equipment. In 2011 Clay Ramsey, an Ord native purchased the business from Dean Misko. Him and his team made a huge run in the team sales business throughout Nebraska. Then in May of 2014, Thomas and Megan Herman purchased the business from Ramsey and continue specializing in team sales.
